Fist King - Chapter 1 - Episode 29: Conquering the Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji ④ A Merlusheep's Gift

Fist King: I Will Save the Earth from Zero in Another Reincarnation, Starting from Real World

Conquering the Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji ④ A Merlusheep's Gift

I had Mao-san stay where she was, and I provoked the first Merlusheep we found.

I knew that provocation could be activated by simply imagining sending out killing intent to the opponent, even without making a sound, so I decided to practice.

The Merlusheep I sent killing intent to noticed me and came running on its four legs, its white body swaying.

I lured the Merlusheep close and chanted a new spell.

"Lightning Bolt!"

As I chanted, the magic activated, and a beam of yellow lightning was released from my staff.

I tried using it, thinking that lightning wouldn't burn the wool like fire would.

However, the part hit by the lightning seemed to have heated up, and the Merlusheep's white wool was burning.

With its wool burning, the Merlusheep's body turned red, and it charged towards me at several times its previous speed.

Matching the charging Merlusheep, I performed a bash with my staff aimed at its head.

When the staff and the Merlusheep collided, the recoil caused me to stagger backward.

(Damn it!)

I quickly regained my balance and looked at the Merlusheep; its head was caved in in the shape of my staff.

(Can a Merlusheep be defeated with a single staff bash?)

After confirming that I had defeated the first Merlusheep, I turned to face where the Merlusheep had appeared.

A herd of Merlusheep was now visible, and I decided to take them on one by one.

If they all came at once, I probably wouldn't be able to handle them and would take a full-force headbutt.

Therefore, I cautiously performed the task of moving a little away from the herd, provoking one, and then striking its head with a bash.

After I defeated the fifteenth Merlusheep, the herd seemed to have gone somewhere.

When I brought the last Merlusheep to Mao-san, she was busy disassembling it.

"Mao-san, this is the last one."

"Just put it over there."

Looking at the place she indicated, there was a spot where several Merlusheep were laid out.

I placed the Merlusheep down and then took a break, keeping an eye on my surroundings.

(As always, Mao-san's disassembly is precise and fast.)

Come to think of it, the Guild Master had also said something about knowing Mao-san's disassembly skills, so I wanted to ask why.

When Mao-san finished disassembling the Merlusheep in front of her and was about to start on the next one, I spoke to her.

"Sorry to interrupt your work, Mao-san, are you free right now?"

"What is it?"

"Mao-san, why are you so good at disassembly? And why did the Guild Master know about it?"

"You have a lot of questions."

Mao-san said that and started disassembling the next Merlusheep.

However, she spoke to me while continuing her work.

"The adventurer school I attended had practical training like disassembly."

"You learn things like that too?"

"Yeah, and I think the Guild Master knew because I won a disassembly tournament or something like that."

"That's amazing, you won?"

"It was a prefectural tournament, though. They said you had to hunt yourself for the national tournament, so I decided not to participate."

"Why not?"

"I'm not much of a fighter."

Just as I was about to ask more questions, Mao-san had finished disassembling all the Merlusheep.

I helped Mao-san load the separated materials onto the cart.

However, even though Mao-san said she couldn't fight, I believed she could, so I told her at the end.

"I think you can fight perfectly fine, Mao-san. I, who was helped, can guarantee it."

"...Thanks."

Mao-san mumbled that and started walking, pulling the cart.

I was about to run ahead of Mao-san to ensure safety.

Just then, it suddenly became dark all around.

Even looking around, there was nothing.

(Above us!)

As it got darker and darker, I thought something was coming from above, and when I looked up, I saw something massive descending.

(I have to hurry, or I'll be crushed!)

I checked on Mao-san and called out to her to get out of the way.

"Mao-san, something is coming from above! Hurry and get away!"

"Above!?"

Mao-san also looked up and seemed to confirm the object.

She was trying to pull the cart quickly, but it seemed heavy with the Merlusheep.

I pushed the back of the cart to help Mao-san move faster.

"Mao-san, I'll push from behind too!"

Mao-san didn't reply to my call and pulled the cart with all her might, managing to get away from the shadow.

Mao-san, breathing heavily with her shoulders rising and falling, looked at the giant object she had just escaped and said,

"This is bad, it's a Green Dragon..."

"A Green Dragon?"

"We're returning immediately."

Mao-san immediately took out a Return Stone and was about to return.

I grabbed Mao-san's hand and, looking into her eyes, made a proposition.

"Mao-san, how about we make a bet?"

"Huh?"

When Mao-san heard my words, her face furrowed in anger, becoming more severe than I had ever seen it.
