I looked behind the cart, but the Poison Snake wasn't following.

After confirming that, I then focused my attention on my own body.

Ever since the Poison Snake bit me, poison had been entering my body. Even though I'd been casting Heal and overworking my body, the poison had accumulated inside me.

"I'll remove this poison with Cure."

While I was focusing on my own recovery, I heard Mao-san's voice from ahead.

"We'll rest here."

Mao-san stopped the cart and peered inside at me.

"Looks like you're still alive."

"I'm sorry for causing trouble."

When I tried to get up, Mao-san told me to stay put and lie down. As I obediently lay there, Mao-san sat beside the cart and spoke to me.

"I didn't say anything before, but you really should wear some armor."

"I think if I wear armor, I'll get complacent."

"Huh? I don't get what you mean."

"Right, I figured you wouldn't."

Mao-san said nothing more, remaining seated beside the cart. I was able to move again, so I got out of the cart. Mao-san saw me exit the cart, stood up, and held out her hand as if to make a pinky promise. I looked at Mao-san, bewildered, and saw a worried expression on her face.

"If you take another attack that feels dangerous, put on some armor."

"...Understood."

"Promise me."

"Yes."

After making this promise with Mao-san, I resolved to become even stronger. After walking for a while, it suddenly became much easier to move.

"Mao-san, it's easier to..."

As I said that and turned to Mao-san, a gigantic flower appeared behind her. The flower was about 2 meters in diameter, with most of its center open like a mouth. Mao-san hadn't noticed the flower behind her yet, so I rushed towards her, raising my staff.

"Hm? What's wrong?"

"Get out of the way!"

The flower bent its stem, about to strike Mao-san. I deflected the attacking flower with my staff. This flower also had elasticity, and it didn't seem like my staff could deal an effective blow. After checking the deflected flower, I gave Mao-san instructions.

"Mao-san, keep going!"

Hearing my voice, Mao-san quickly pulled the cart away. I moved away until I was out of the flower's attack range, then explained the situation to Mao-san.

"I think we've entered a Balloon Flower habitat."

"Balloon Flower, huh..."

Balloon Flowers usually camouflage themselves as ordinary flowers, then swell up and try to swallow prey when they get close. They're carnivorous plant-type monsters. However, they don't move, so they're safer monsters than Poison Snakes.

"Since there are Balloon Flowers here, I haven't seen any other monsters."

After confirming that, I had something I wanted to propose to Mao-san, so I spoke to her.

"Mao-san, can I practice magic on the Balloon Flowers?"

"Sure. What should I do?"

"I think Balloon Flower roots are spread throughout this area, so please keep watch."

"Alright."

Mao-san nodded, so I began firing Fire Arrows at the Balloon Flowers. It was hard to distinguish Balloon Flowers if you didn't look closely, so I was attacked several times, deflecting them with my staff each time. While continuously firing magic, I realized that hitting the Balloon Flower's stem with a Fire Arrow would defeat it faster. Furthermore, if I could defeat a Balloon Flower by hitting its stem with magic, I could collect the flower part.

"This is the 30th Balloon Flower."

After continuously defeating Balloon Flowers, my Fire Arrow skill finally reached Lv5. The level of Fire Arrow was easy to tell without even needing to check a paper, as the number of arrows fired directly corresponded to the level. Because of this, when I cast Fire Arrow now, five arrows would fly out.

I handed the 30th flower to Mao-san, and looking around, there were no more flowers resembling Balloon Flowers. Since I was originally defeating them by hitting the flower itself, there must have been at least 50 or more of them in this area.

"It's good that I was able to come to a Balloon Flower cluster."

Mao-san seemed tense when she first accepted the Balloon Flower, but now that she thought it was safe, she took it with one hand and tossed it into the cart.

As we were walking through the forest after the Balloon Flowers could no longer be found, I saw a white mass moving ahead. I stopped Mao-san with one hand and cautiously observed the white mass; it was a Merl Sheep.

Merl Sheep, covered in white, elastic wool, are almost impervious to blunt attacks. However, if their wool is burned, they become enraged and charge like bullets. They are named Merl Sheep because they bleat "Merl."

I observed the Merl Sheep and began to consider how to defeat it. From the direction where one Merl Sheep appeared, more and more Merl Sheep began to emerge.
