Fist King - Chapter 1 - Episode 26: Conquering the Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji ① To the First Dungeon

Fist King: I Will Save the Earth from Zero in Another Reincarnation, Starting from Real World

Conquering the Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji ① To the First Dungeon

I was reading a book on a bus heading to a certain dungeon.

Before boarding the bus, I had bought a book containing information about our destination.

The name of the dungeon we were heading to was Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji.

The book contained detailed information about the dungeon.

The dungeon, Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji, is a forest surrounding the sacred peak, Mt. Fuji.

Once you enter, you lose your sense of direction, so you can't leave without using a Return Stone.

No one has ever been confirmed to have exited this Sea of Trees.

Therefore, not a single person has yet set foot on the sacred peak, Mt. Fuji.

A helicopter that tried to enter from above was shot down by an attack from a white dragon that emerged from Mt. Fuji's crater.

Because of this, it's said that a dragon lives on Mt. Fuji.

(So the Sea of Trees at Mt. Fuji is a dungeon... This book doesn't have anything about monsters...)

I put the book I was reading into my backpack and stopped myself from speaking to Mao-san, who was sitting diagonally behind me.

Mao-san seemed to be sleeping, so I figured she wouldn't respond.

Today, there were several other adventurers on the bus besides us.

Discussions about the upcoming dungeon raid were happening in various places.

However, Mao-san and I hadn't discussed anything on the bus.

Before getting on the bus, I tried to talk to her to discuss today's hunt a little.

But Mao-san told me that I would probably just rampage again today.

(Even recalling it now, for some reason, I can't agree.)

So, since I had nothing to do during the bus ride, I had bought a book before getting on the bus and was reading it.

I checked my watch and saw that there was still plenty of time before we reached our destination.

This time, I decided to gather information on my smartphone.

However, the information I found on my smartphone was no more than what was written in the book.

Next, I obtained a staff, so I started compiling the skills I wanted to acquire with it.

Staff Proficiency Lv3 ⇒ Fire Arrow

Staff Proficiency Lv5 ⇒ Rising Bolt

Staff Proficiency Lv10 ⇒ Teleport

Once I checked the skills, I genuinely had nothing left to do.

So, like Mao-san, I decided to sleep until we reached our destination.

---

After sleeping for a while, I felt a light impact on my head.

When I looked in that direction, Mao-san was looking at me with an exasperated expression.

"What's wrong?"

"I've never seen anyone sleep so soundly before going to a dungeon."

"Weren't you sleeping too, Mao-san?"

"I was just closing my eyes because I was nervous..."

"Are you nervous?"

"Of course, we're going by ourselves, aren't we?"

Mao-san told me to get off the bus quickly, then she got off first.

(It's a shame; if I had known Mao-san wasn't sleeping, I would have talked to her.)

Feeling a bit disappointed, I also got off the bus.

Looking around, it seemed the other parties had already finished their preparations and departed.

Mao-san had also finished preparing her armor and other equipment and was waiting for me.

Looking at Mao-san's rickshaw, I noticed it was different from the one she had before.

As I approached Mao-san, I confirmed it with her.

"Mao-san, did you change your rickshaw?"

"Because you hunt too much, I changed it to a bigger, sturdier one."

"Thank you."

"Don't mention it. More importantly, are you really going to fight with that stick?"

Ever since I told Mao-san I had switched my weapon to a staff, she hadn't looked too pleased.

Also, there was one thing I needed to correct, so I told Mao-san.

"This isn't a stick; it's a staff."

"Doesn't look like it..."

Mao-san said it didn't look like a staff at all, seeing the thin tip wrapped in cloth.

I decided to drop the subject, judging that Mao-san wouldn't believe me until she saw me fight.

More importantly, I had something to give Mao-san.

The small knife I bought at the weapon shop yesterday was a dismantling knife, and it was also made entirely of pure mithril.

I took the knife out of my backpack to hand it to Mao-san.

"Mao-san, I have something to give you."

"Huh? What is it?"

"Please accept this knife."

"Hmm? I already have a knife..."

Mao-san took the knife while talking and then saw the blade, not continuing her sentence.

More than that, after holding the knife up to the sunlight, she touched the blade with her hand, checking something.

And then, seemingly convinced of something, she cautiously asked me.

"Is this... mithril?"

"Yes. It's a pure mithril dismantling knife."

"I can't accept something so expensive!"

Hearing my words, Mao-san tried to push the knife back to me.

I held Mao-san's hand, which was holding the knife, with both of my hands and looked into her eyes.

Mao-san looked into my eyes, blinking rapidly, appearing unsettled.

"This is my thanks to you, Mao-san. Please accept it."

"But..."

"I bought this for you, Mao-san, so if you don't use it, I'll throw it away."

"Don't say that... Alright, I'll take it!"

Finally, Mao-san accepted the knife, and I felt relieved.

Looking at Mao-san, she carefully put the knife I gave her into her pouch.

(With this, what I needed to do before entering the Sea of Trees is done.)

I looked at the dungeon, which no one has supposedly exited yet.

Mao-san also had her rickshaw ready, so it seemed she was prepared.

"Let's go."

"Yeah, let's go."

I began to step into the Sea of Trees, where sunlight barely penetrated.
