Swordsman Junior High School Arc ⑪ Parents' Decision
It was already night by the time we finished tidying up, so we decided to order pizza for dinner.
While we waited, my parents said they had something they wanted to ask, so the three of us gathered around the table.
Mainly, my parents asked why I had become so strong.
When they asked if someone was teaching me, I couldn't give anyone's name because there was no such person.
Instead, even when I told my parents about the logs and slimes, they couldn't seem to understand.
Finally, my father sighed and asked, "So, what are you going to do now?"
"What do you mean, 'what am I going to do'?"
"Your mother told me you said you're not going to school anymore."
"I didn't say I'm not going. I just said I'd be free."
"It's the same thing, isn't it...?"
My parents finished talking and looked at each other, appearing troubled.
I had something important I wanted to convey, so I had to tell my parents.
"I'm still weak. I want to become much stronger, so please let me be free."
I bowed my head to my parents, asking them.
Since my parents didn't say anything, I kept my head bowed so low it almost touched the table.
My mother told me to lift my head, and when I did and looked at my parents, they were looking at me as if they had given up.
Perhaps my father had nothing more to say, so my mother spoke to me.
"You must contact us every day. If you don't keep this promise, you'll have to go to school properly."
"Thank you!"
Now I would have time to use my fists to my heart's content every day.
I expressed my gratitude to my parents from the bottom of my heart.
Just then, the house phone rang, and my mother got up from the table to answer it.
My mother was bowing while on the phone, so it didn't seem to be a call from a friend or anything.
After finishing the call, my mother hurried back to the table.
Then, she told us what the call was about.
It seemed the call was from the school.
They wanted me to come to school once tomorrow morning.
They said they would explain in more detail then, so the three of us wondered what it could be about.
As we were doing that, the doorbell rang, and my mother answered it. The pizza had arrived, so we ate dinner.

The next morning, my mother and I were walking to arrive at school at the designated time.
Since I had told my mother that I had no intention of going to school starting today, I was heading there in my usual clothes instead of my uniform.
As we approached the school, a small, short-haired woman was standing at the school gate. When she saw us, she called out to us.
After my mother spoke with her briefly, the woman guided us, saying, "Please come this way."
My mother and I followed her, and finally, she told us to enter the principal's office.
When the small woman knocked, a deep voice could be heard from inside.
Upon entering the principal's office, the principal, who had given a boring speech during the entrance guidance, was waiting.
The principal told us to sit in chairs.
My mother and I sat facing the principal across the table.
The small woman also seemed to be joining us, so she sat next to the principal.
The principal introduced himself, and the small woman was my class homeroom teacher at school.
After the principal cleared his throat, he continued, saying, "The reason we asked you to come today is..."
"Regarding Kazuya-kun's situation, we held a meeting at school."
"My situation?"
My mother asked with a slightly puzzled expression, and the principal quickly waved his hands, correcting herself in a hurry.
"I apologize. I certainly don't mean anything bad; it's a proposal for the future."
"What do you mean?"
"Since Kazuya-kun has already acquired skills, I believe there's very little for him to learn at school."
As the principal spoke, he showed my mother and me a piece of paper.
"Appraisal Results" was written on it.
My skill names, which I had been told during the guidance, were written there.
Then, the principal made two proposals.
Participation in classes is optional.
We will provide a letter of recommendation to the Shizuoka Prefecture Adventurer's Guild.
She wanted me to remain enrolled in the school under these conditions.
When I told him that was fine with me, the principal seemed relieved.
Listening to the principal, it seemed he had understood that I was trying to quit school.
(I wasn't planning on quitting, but it's really helpful that attending classes from now on will be optional.)
I received the letter of recommendation from the principal, and my parent and I left the school.
