Fist King - Prologue - Episode 8: First Skill Acquisition
Fist King: I Will Save the Earth from Zero in Another Reincarnation, Starting from Real World
Initiation ③ First Skill Acquisition
Three days had passed since I started carving with the mace, but I still hadn't managed to make a single sword.
I could somehow manage the blade part, but shaping the guard and grip with the mace was difficult.
I was swinging the mace now to make a sword, but when I tried to carve the grip again, it broke off at the base.
"Damn it!!!"
I slammed the mace with all my might onto the log where I'd failed. The strike hit with power I'd never produced before, and the remaining log shattered with a magnificent sound.
I was breathing roughly, my shoulders rising and falling. But the frustration from failing to carve disappeared, and I couldn't believe the phenomenon that had just occurred before my eyes.
"Amazing…"
A ponytailed girl I'd seen before was muttering while looking at me, but I didn't hear her.
(Did Bash activate...?)
What had just happened was the activation of Bash, a mace attack skill.
It's an attack where magic power is imbued into a weapon, and it can be learned at Mace or Sword Proficiency Lv 5. That was the strike I had just performed.
It was good that my mace proficiency had increased, but I still couldn't quite accept it.
To take a break, I cleared away the scattered log fragments and headed to the rest area. As I sat on a chair, the girl approached me.
"That was amazing. That attack just now was a skill, wasn't it?"
"Probably, yeah."
When I looked in the direction of the voice, there was a beautiful girl with a black ponytail blowing in the wind, a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead.
I panicked at such a girl talking to me and could only give an ungracious reply. The girl looked at the mace beside me, saying, "Oh."
"Is this yours?"
"I borrowed it from over there."
When I said that, looking towards the reception desk, the girl looked even more surprised.
"You can get that much power from a rental weapon, huh?"
"The weapons here are good quality."
I hadn't compared it to others, but it must be good quality if it doesn't break after hitting things with it every day. However, at my words, the girl frowned slightly, looking a little suspicious.
"No way. I heard the weapons kept here are the bare minimum."
"Is that so?"
"Because that's just made of iron, right? For maces, there's steel or mithril, too. Don't you aspire to have an adamantine weapon?"
"You're right."
It felt strange to complain about the weapon I was using, but there were many more amazing weapons in this world. I used to have many of them, but I didn't use them much.
(I want to fight with my fists again, like before.)
Thinking that, this was no time to rest. The girl still looked like she had more to say, but I left the spot and prepared a new log.
