Fist King - Prologue - Episode 6: Beating a Log with a Mace

Fist King: I Will Save the Earth from Zero in Another Reincarnation, Starting from Real World

Initiation ①: Beating a Log with a Mace

The next day, I stood before a log as tall as myself, holding an iron club about 60 cm long called a mace.

This place was a training ground, with an area for swinging weapons against logs and a plaza with a 200-meter track. The city managed it, and it was open from 9 AM to 5 PM. Weapons could be rented for free if you were under 15, and a log could be bought for 200 yen.

I raised the mace and swung it with all my might at the log in front of me. It smashed in with a thud, and the recoil struck both my hands, but I couldn't let go. Enduring the pain, I raised it again and struck.

From right and left, swinging down and swinging up, I struck the log from various directions. And enduring the pain, I continued to pray.

(Heal, heal, heal!!)

As a result of my research last night, I found that there were no skill restrictions based on occupation. I was swinging the mace now to learn the healing magic Heal, and the physical ability enhancement buff magic.

There's something called a skill tree, where the more skills and magic you learn, the more new ones become available.

If the skill tree was the same as in VRMMORPG "Versus Online", there would be no conditions to acquire Heal. However, there were conditions for physical ability enhancement.

Skill Tree

Mace Proficiency Lv3

Heal Lv3

Physical Ability Enhancement acquirable

Mace proficiency would likely increase with continued use. However, Heal was a skill that support classes could acquire without conditions, so I pondered how to acquire it. I recalled the description of Heal from my knowledge of VRMMORPG "Versus Online".

[A prayer to restore vitality and health]

Because of this, the only way to acquire Heal was to keep praying for my body to recover. After about 30 minutes of continuously hitting with the mace, my arms wouldn't lift anymore. I dropped the mace where I stood, and looking at my hands, the skin was peeled and bleeding.

I picked up the mace with trembling arms and headed to the rest space. Sitting on a chair there, I began to feel anxious about whether I could learn Heal.

Looking at my bleeding hands, I prayed for them to heal as if wishing. Then, a faint green light enveloped my hands, and the bleeding stopped. Thinking I might have seen things, I prayed again, and this time the skin on my hands healed.

"I can use Heal..."

I involuntarily murmured when I was able to use the skill. Looking back, even if I had trained, would I have the stamina to continuously hit a log with all my might for 30 minutes?

(I must have become able to use Heal while I was continuously hitting!)

This time, when I prayed for my stamina to recover, I felt my body lighten. When I tried to use it again, nothing happened this time.

(Out of magic power already?)

When you continuously use magic or skills, you run out of magic power. I probably didn't have enough magic power left to use Heal right now.

Feeling a definite response, I continued to rest. I thought my magic power would recover if I rested, so I rested there until my breathing became even.

Taking appropriate breaks, I continued to hit the log until the training ground closed.
